I-10 High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Extension Caltrans EA 0C250

This project proposes to widen Interstate 10 (I-10) and extend the High Occupancy Vehicle lane from Haven Avenue in Ontario eastward to Ford Street in Redlands.  This 25-mile long project is estimated to cost $1 billion and is part of SANBAG’s Measure I renewal program.  The project is intended to relieve congestion on I-10, especially during peak periods and to encourage ridesharing/carpooling, which will help improve air quality in the region.

Currently this project is in the PA/ED phase and a feasibility study was performed to possibly change the scope of the project to a High Occupancy Toll lane project, so SANBAG can realize revenue that can be used for other transportation improvement projects. This complex project proposes to reconstruct several structures over I-10 in the Redlands area while minimizing impacts to existing interchanges.  If successful, this project will provide much needed congestion relief for motorists who use I-10 on a daily basis.
