Streeter Avenue Grade Separation, Riverside, California (Ongoing Contract, $33M)

The Streeter Avenue Grade Separation project provides for the lowering of Streeter Avenue under the UPRR railroad tracks.  Project site is along an arterial street within a residential area of the City.  Two elementary schools and two churches are less than ½ mile from the site.  The project scope includes the construction of two parallel bridges one to carry Dewey Avenue traffic, that parallels and is immediately adjacent to the tracks, and another bridge to carry UPRR and Metrolink trains over Streeter Avenue.  Other work needed to complete the grade separation project includes:  Realignment of residential streets within the project area; reconfiguration of utility facilities; and the construction of a new storm water pump station.  The Streeter Avenue Underpass Structure is a 3-span precast box beam girder supported on CIDH piles.   The Dewey Avenue bridge is a two span Cast in Place concrete Box Girder also supported on CIDH piles.

Southstar is providing the Assistant Resident Engineer/Office Engineer and the Structure’s Representative for Bridge Construction Management services.  The Assistant Resident Engineer/Office Engineer’s services include the following:

Organize and maintain field office files

Organize and prepare status reports on project cost and schedule progress

Prepare evaluation of work completion for progress billing

Perform construction schedule analysis and updates

Manage the setup and maintenance of document control for processing and tracking of:



Progress Payments



Shop drawings

Contract Change orders


Daily inspection diaries

Scheduling utility work to coordinate with the contractor and UPRR operations;

Material acceptance documentation

Attend meetings and take minutes of meeting

SWPPP Compliance

Prepare final records

Project closeout

The Structure’s Representative Bridge Construction Management services which include the following:

Bridge Construction coordination with the City of Riverside and UPRR

Material testing and frequency testing

Weekly job meetings

Daily work reports

Prepare quantities and administer payments

Quality Assurance for Bridge Construction

City Representation for Structures operations, design issues and items

CCO reviews and recommendations

Submittal reviews for false work, shoring, pile placement, MSE wall Shop Drawings,

Line and Grade Control, Survey Coordination

Safety and UPRR regulations are adhered to
